Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that the 'establishment' offered him three options, including the no-confidence motion, resignation from his post, or fresh elections.

The prime minister made the statement during an interview with ARY News on Friday as Khan is facing a no-confidence resolution in the National Assembly, where voting is likely to happen on Sunday.

"Early election is the best option, I will urge my nation to give me a simple majority so that I won't have to do compromises," he said.

The premier said that he would not resign from office despite losing the majority in the National Assembly, adding that the opposition would be greatly surprised Sunday.

He said he had the idea of conspiracy against him in his mind from August last year, adding that he had reports that some opposition leaders were visiting embassies.

People like Husain Haqqani were meeting Nawaz Sharif in London, he said.

'Foreign threat'

Talking about the allegedly threatening memo, Khan said that the “letter” sent by a foreign country had said that until he is in power, bilateral ties cannot move ahead.

On Thursday night the premier, during a televised address to the nation, in slip of tongue had named the United States as country behind 'threatening document'.

"I am here today because on March 8 or 7, the United States ... not the US ... we got a message. For an independent country, a message like this is [not only] against its prime minister but is also against the country [itself]," the premier had said.

Khan in today's interview further said that the Pakistani envoy was told that Russia’s visit was Imran Khan’s personal decision.

He said that the foreign country objected to his independent foreign policy, adding that the content of the letter was also shared in the National Security Committee meeting.

“I raised the matter at the right forum at the right time,” the premier maintained.

"My life is in danger"

Khan said that he has credible information that his life is in danger but asserted that he is not afraid and will continue his fight for an independent and democratic Pakistan.

He said not only his life was in danger but the opposition, which is playing in foreign hands, will also resort to his character assassination.

"Let me inform my nation that my life is at risk too, they have also planned for my character assassination."

Earlier in the day, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain had claimed that a plot to assassinate PM Khan has been reported by the country's security agencies.

Khan's security has been beefed up as per the government's decision after these reports, the Dawn newspaper quoted Chaudhry as saying.
