Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President and Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly Shahbaz Sharif has asked why Imran Khan remained silent on the letter for three weeks.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad on Friday, the PML-N president said that Imran Khan has ruined relations with the world and friendly countries.

Talking about the 'threat letter', which the premier had claimed was a threat from 'foreign power' to oust him, Shehbaz said that the premier should immediately bring the 'letter' to the National Security Committee (NSC) before waving it in PTI's public gathering.

Corruption cases

He said that Imran Khan took political revenge in the name of accountability, scandals were created in NAB Niazi Nexus but they could not prove any allegation because their accountability was a fraud.

Shehbaz said that the prime minister’s narrative of accountability has died and not a single reference of the scandals including sugar, medicine, wheat, gas, power plant occurred under the nose of Imran Khan was sent to the NAB.

He further said that dozens of cases were registered against the opposition but evidence of not even a single case had come to light, adding that the British National Crime Agency investigated against him for two and a half years, but could not find any evidence regarding the allegations.

The opposition leader further said that all the power plants installed in the country were started with the cooperation of China.

Number game

Shehbaz said that Imran Khan should stop playing the religion card. The opposition had more than 172 numbers in total. "He came in power through rigging, but we have adopted democratic way," he added.

He said that the dissident members or other allies those have part their ways with the ruling PTI has not received any phone call so far, adding that court orders should be followed on the day of voting and entry of all members should not be hindered.

Leader of the Opposition said that Imran Khan used to say that if prices go up then the Prime Minister is corrupt and today inflation is at historic highest levels.

It is pertinent to mention that the PTI effectively lost its majority in the 342-member National Assembly after MQM-P, PTI's coalition partner in the Centre, said its seven lawmakers would vote with in support of the no-trust motion against the premier. Several other allies had also switched their sides ahead of the no-trust move.

Drone strikes

He said that saying Nawaz Sharif did nothing to stop drone strikes is tantamount to distorting history, adding that his leader [Nawaz Sharif] condemned drone attacks on every forum.

"I do not listen Imran Khan's speeches because he made "abusive language" the order of the day," Shahbaz said while referring to the premier's address to the nation held a day earlier where he accused the opposition for "conspiring with foreign powers" to oust him.

"But being opposition leader I receive information from several sources about what he says in his speeches," the PML-N president added.
