The three women accused of murdering a female madrassa teacher in Dera Ismail Khan's Anjumabad area over "blasphemy" allegation have confessed to the crime, according to District Police Officer Najam Liaquat.

During the investigation, the accused women told the police that their 13-year-old female relative saw a dream in which she was told that the deceased had committed "blasphemy". Based on her dream, the three women killed the 21-year-old victim.

As per the initial report based on the statement of the victim's uncle, the women associated with a madrassa attacked a former classfellow - who was now working at a different madrassa - with a sharp-edged weapon for alleged blasphemy and killed her on the spot.

In a message on Twitter, the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan said it "horrified by the cold-blooded murder of a woman by 3 female seminary colleagues in D I Khan on allegations of blasphemy."

The HRCP said that the details based on a "dream" of an adolescent girl was "both frightening and incomprehensible."

The human rights commission urged the government to "acknowledge and tackle the recent increase in vigilante-led violence in the name of religion by taking a harder line against perpetrators".
