Three women associated with a madrassa attacked a former classfellow - who was now working at a different madrassa - with a sharp-edged weapon for alleged blasphemy and killed her on the spot in Dera Ismail Khan's Anjumabad area, according to the victim’s uncle.

As per the initial application submitted to police, a copy of which is available with Aaj Digital, the victim’s uncle stated that he was alerted via a phone call about the attack on his niece and that she was lying severely injured at the gate of the madrassa. Upon arriving, he found the bloodied body with a chador on top of the victim and her throat slit.

The news was also shared by several journalists, including Iftikhar Firdous, on Twitter but with differing details.

Shah gave the statement to the police as the victim's father works in Dubai. The initial report was filed under Section 302 (premeditated murder) and Section 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code.

Narrating the incidents of the day in the initial report, Shah said that his niece left for the madrassa in a rickshaw as she did every day. She arrived there at 7:45am where four to five other women, attired in madrassa uniform, were standing outside the gate as it was closed. She stood with them, waiting for the gate to be opened.

Suddenly, three of the women attacked the victim with a sharp-edged weapon and slit her throat. She died on the spot, read the report.

People in the neighbourhood witnessed the incident, he said, adding he did not know why his niece was killed.

While talking to Aaj News, another teacher at the madrassa said that the three accused women had claimed in the past that what was being taught at the madrassa run by the victim was blasphemous.

However, the issue was settled after the women apologizes and took back the blasphemy allegation.

The three accused and the victim belong to seminaries of different school of thoughts, according to an Aaj News report.
