Pakistani superstars Ahad Raza Mir and Sajal Aly have parted ways after two years of marriage, a source close to the couple informed Aaj News on the condition of anonymity, especially since the actors have not made any public statements surrounding their divorce.

There was a lot of speculation around the marriage, with many assuming that the two parted ways months ago based on their social media activity.

People became suspicious after the celebrity couple did not feature on each others’ social media profiles for a while. But the rumour mill really started churning out ideas after Ahad's absence at the wedding of Sajal’s sister, actress Saboor Aly, in January.

The absence was especially conspicuous since post-Sajal’s wedding, Ahad’s family was heavily involved in her life including attending Saboor’s engagement in February 2021.

For many people, the final nail in the marriage’s coffin was already laid when Ahad and Sajal did not take to social media to wish each other on their anniversary on March 14.

There were news stories based on their wishes to each other on their wedding anniversary in 2021, and absolute silence on their official profiles as March 14 came and went.

In fact, the post that Ahad put up for Sajal on their anniversary last year has also been deleted, and Sajal has changed her name on her Instagram profile from Sajal Ahad Mir to Sajal Aly. Many hoped she was just following Priyanka Chopra’s footsteps. The Indian actress recently dropped her husband’s name from her profile.

Upon closer inspection, the most recent pictures of the couple together have been removed from both their profiles, with just those images related to work left there.

Fans have not stopped expressing their disappointment on social media ever since unconfirmed reports started making the rounds on Wednesday, thronging to not only the actors' profile to implore them to reconsider their decision but at times also leaving snarky comments.

While others have gone one step further and denounced true love, showing how they were vicariously living through their marriage.

Some were just appalled that the country is going through so much, with forced conversions and murdered men on marriage hall floors but people are only concerned about Sahad (the hashtag coined for the stars).

But most people wished both Sajal and Ahad the very best for their future and a world of happiness as they move on from this very private loss.

While some had the audacity to shoot their own shot.

Meanwhile, many from the showbiz fraternity including Azfar Rehman and Farieha Altaf have asked for privacy for the couple.
