Passenger plane from Delhi makes emergency landing at Karachi airport
A Qatar Airways flight from Delhi to Doha had to make emergency landing at Karachi's Jinnah International airport due to a technical fault, Dawn News reported citing Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) spokesperson.
According to the report the flight captain was forced to make an emergency landing after smoke in the plane's cargo hold was detected.
The flight QR-579 was carrying as many as 12 crew members and 283 passengers.
The aircraft landed safely in Karachi where it was met by emergency services and passengers disembarked.
"The aircraft landed safely at Karachi where it was met by emergency services and passengers disembarked orderly via stairs," the report said.
It further said that the relief flight was being arranged to transfer the passengers to Doha.
