Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain has said that Sindh House in Islamabad has become a den of 'horse trading' amid calls from the opposition that the PTI-led government is planning a raid at the property.

Addressing the Green Youth Movement in Islamabad, the minister said that the opposition's no-trust motion would be a failure, adding that the opposition would not succeed in their conspiracies against the government.

Earlier on Wednesday, the information minister while terming it 'meena bazar of horses and mules' said that a set-up has been created at Sindh House for 'horse trading'.

PM Imran Khan, ast various public gatherings and events, has accused the opposition of offering upto Rs200 million to at least three PTI lawmakers. More recently, he has said that the PPP leadership has bags of cash stashed away at the Sindh House to lure PTI lawmakers into voting for the no-confidence vote.

SSU deployment at Sindh House Islamabad

Speaking to the media earlier today, former prime minister and Pakistan People's Party (PPP) leader Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani said that personnel of the Special Services Unit (SSU) at Sindh House were deployed on the request of PPP lawmakers "for their own protection".

According to the Gilani, the PTI lawmakers requested the PPP leadership to let them reside at the Sindh House as they felt unsafe at the Parliament Lodges in light of the that included forcible entering into the room of a JUI-F lawmaker, who was injured in the melee.

Recalling the police raid on Parliament Lodges, Gillani said that the PTI members do not want a repeat of such incidences.

'Unlawful' deployment

Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Ali Haider Zaidi, in a letter to the Establishment Division secretary, termed the deployment of approximately 400 SSU personnel at the Sindh House unlawful, while calling for action against those approved the deployment.

The letter states that deployment was done with "ulterior motives to sabotage the political system in the country".

The letter identified Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Maqsood Memon, the head of the SSU, repsonsible for the deployment of the SSU personnel at Sindh House, while calling for his suspension until completion of inquiry.
