Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Tuesday called a meeting of the Opposition parties to discuss a strategy regarding the long march, Aaj News reported.

According to the reports, the meeting will also discuss the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan and the current political scenario of the country.

Earlier on Thursday, Fazl had asked all the political workers to march towards the federal capital after PTI leaders including Senator Faisal Javed announced a public rally at Islamabad's D-Chowk on March 27. Earlier, the same minister had claimed that the no-trust vote would take place on March 28 but later said that it would be held after the March 27 power show of the ruling PTI.

The government's announcement of a rally of its own has raised the spectre of a confrontation that could see political workers of rival parties coming face to face on the streets of Islamabad.

Following the developments, Fazl noted that the government was resorting to foul tactics to sabotage the no-trust move against the premier.

MQM-P, PML-N meet

Earlier today, a delegation of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) also called on Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president Shehbaz Sharif to discuss the current political situation in the country and the opposition's no-confidence motion.

According to reports, Fazl was also present during the meeting while the MQM-P's delegation consisted of party convenor Khalid Maqbool, Aamir Khan, Waseem Akhtar, Amin ul Haque and other leaders of the party.

On Monday, the MQM-P delegation had also held a meeting with PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari at Zardari House in Islamabad.

Both sides had agreed to work together in the wider interest of the country and also discussed the no-confidence motion against the prime minister.
