Mufti Taqi Usmani expresses concerns over use of foul language by top politicians
Renowned religious scholar Mufti Taqi Usmani expressed disappointment over the use of foul language by top politicians against their political rivals, saying that Islamic values are being violated in such political confrontations.
Mufti Usmani's statement comes after the premier's abusive language against his political rivals during the past few days.
Taking to his official Twitter handle, Mufti Usmani said that it was extremely frightening to think about how Islamic rules and values were being abused in political confrontations.
"May Allah keep us safe from the consequences. In Surah Al-Hujurat, the Holy Qur'an says, do not make fun of one another, do not indulge in back-biting, and do not call anyone by twisted name," he wrote.
He further said that the differences may be ideological or political, but hurling abuses at one another is dangerous for the society.
"Criticism is done through arguments and not by foul language. Think about where we are going," he added.
