Former Punjab minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) leader Abdul Aleem Khan has joined Jehangir Khan Tareen's PTI faction, Aaj News reported.

Speaking to the media after meeting with the lawmakers from Tareen's group, Khan lauded Tareen's contribution during the days of PTI's struggle and said that Tareen had played an important role in raising the party to power.

Khan said that politics is about standing with friends in trouble, adding the group would decide a future course of action if a no-confidence is moved against Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar.

Khan said he had decided to join the Tareen group in order to re-organise the loyalists of the party who had been sidelined due to the people around Prime Minister Imran Khan.

He said he had not joined PTI for power as he enjoyed more luxury than any government member.

“I joined Prime Minister Imran Khan’s campaign because he was the only hope for a hopeless nation,” Khan said, adding that PTI was not a single person’s party but it belonged to everyone including him and Tareen, who had worked hard to bring it to power.

Earlier Khan arrived at Jehangir Tareen's residence to discuss the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran.

Provincial ministers Nauman Langrial, Ajmal Cheema as well as MPAs Khurram Leghari, Abdul Hai Dasti, Lala Tahir Randhawa, Salman Naeem, Aslam Bharwana, Saeed Nawani, Zawar Hussain, Bilal Warraich, Amin Chaudry, Qasim Langah were among those gathered at Tareen's residence.

According to a Geo News report the leaders would decide a joint strategy regarding the no-confidence motion.

The report revealed that Tareen, former PTI secretary general, will join the meeting through video link from London as he was there for medical treatment.

Meanwhile, Khan is said to be in contact at least 40 Punjab MPAs, including 10 ministers, in the last 30 days.

The report also claimed that the Jehangir Tareen group, reportedly, has the support of six members of the National Assembly and several members in Punjab Assembly.

According to the report the PTI leader has been contacted by the senior leadership of PML-N, ahead of the Opposition's plan to table the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The meeting of the Tareen group comes as the Pakistan Demo­cratic Movement (PDM) is in the process of finalising a no-confidence motion against the prime minister, claiming to have the support of enough lawmakers in the parliament to make the ouster a success.
