The Supreme Court of Pakistan took suo-motu notice of remarks made by Faisal Vawda regarding interference in the judiciary on Thursday.

A bench led by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa will take up the matter on Friday.

The bench will also include Justice Naeem Akhtar and Justice Irfan Saadat.

In a press conference on Wednesday, Vawda had responded to Justice Babar Sattar’s recent letter by saying that the trend of ‘targeting institutions’ should end.

He had also criticised the judge for making allegations one year after the alleged interference took place.

The senator added institutions should not be targeted on the basis of mere accusations.

Vawda had also questioned why parliamentarians are not allowed to hold dual nationalities but the same does not apply to judges.

His statement came along with other press conferences from Azam Nazeer Tarar, Talal Chaudhry and Mansoor Awan after Justice Babar Sattar wrote another letter alleging interference in an ongoing case.
