Legendary actor Masood Akhtar on Saturday passed away of lung cancer in Lahore, reported Aaj News. He was 82.

For the last two months, Akhtar was admitted in a private hospital as his condition had deteriorated.

His funeral prayers will be held at Usman Park, Gulshan-e-Ravi in Lahore at 4pm.

Akhtar was born on Sept 5, 1940, in Sahiwal. He played memorable roles in various TV dramas, films and theatre. He received a 'Pride of Performance Award' on August 14, 2005 for his outstanding contribution in the field of arts.

Paying tribute to the veteran actor, Sentor Faisal Javed tweeted: "He was one of the finest artists of our country."
