PML-Q will demand its pound of flesh to support no-trust move says Bilawal
Pakistan Peoples Party Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that the opposition will have to offer some major incentives to the Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) - an ally of the PTI-led government - for the Chaudhrys of Gujrat to support the opposition's no-confidence motion in the National Assembly.
Bilawal, who is leading the PPP's long march to Islamabad, reiterated his confidence in the success of the no-confidence motion would de-seat incumbent Prime Minister Imran Khan following a flurry of activities that saw the meetings of PPP's Asif Zardari and PML-N's Shehbaz Sharif with the PML-Q leadership.
On Wednesday, PM Imran paid a visit to the Chaudhry brothers of Gujrat in an effort to ensure his stay in the government's fold.
The cavalcade is scheduled to reach Islamabad in the second week of March, where party workers are expected to camp for the fulfillment of their demand of PM Imran's ouster.
Similarly, parties in the opposition alliance the Pakistan Democratic Movement are also expected to reach the capital this month to intensify pressure on the government ahead of the March 23rd Pakistan Day celebrations and the meeting of the foreign ministers council of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC)
Bilawal asserted that preparations for the tabling of the no-confidence move have been finalized. Earlier, PDM head Fazlur Rehman, who is also the head of the JUI-F, told mediapersons in an informal chat that the motion would be filed in the next day or two.
He also expressed confidence in the success of the motion, citing the example of Yousuf Raza Gillani's senate election, referring to the former's success against the government-backed candidate Abdul Hafeez Shaikh. At that time, the opposition alliance had hailed Gillani's victory as a ''no confidence vote" against the premier.
Talking about talks between opposition parties, he said that meetings with the PML-N leadership have been fruitful. "We will show our cards when the time is right," he said while adding that the PML-Q would demand its pound of flesh in return for support for the move to oust the premier.
Bilawal said that the setup that will replace PM Imran would be for an interim period only, with the mandate to hold free and fair elections. "With every passing day, Imran's situation is become untenable."
The PPP leader steered clear of questions on the possible return of PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif to the country, saying the decision rests with the former three time premier.
