“Grim” or “groovy:” Twitter divided over new Coke Studio track “Peechay Hutt”
Prince of modern pop Hasan Raheem made his Coke Studio debut with dance track “Pecchay Hutt” on Sunday. The song featuring beats by Talal Qureshi and a powerful chorus by the Justin Bibis has Twitter divided.
“Coke studio has shaped me up in a way that I’ve grown artistically, and as a person, for which I’ll always be thankful for,” said Raheem speaking about his experience working with Coke Studio.
"Peechay Hutt" can be best described as a flashpoint for the rise of a new generation. It has Qureshi’s signature surprising breaks, Raheem’s mumble singing voice and Justin Bibi’s electric vocals.
“Coke Studio is known for promoting Pakistan’s multiculturalism by inviting artists from various regions and of various languages to collaborate musically. This year, "Peechay Hutt," comes at a pivotal point in the Coke Studio Journey. It is a statement piece, one that announces our intent to embrace the sound and icons of the future. We are excited to have collaborated with them and we hope you’ll also embrace them.”, said Fahad Ashraf, Vice President, Coca-Cola Pakistan & Afghanistan in an interview.
Unable to embrace the “statement song” some people “hated” the track.
“Peechay Hutt is a disgrace to Coke Studio,” said one user.
“The only good thing about Coke Studio’s Peechay Hutt is its beats,” said another user.
Looks like this Hasan Raheem fan had more expectations from the singer’s Coke Studio debut.
While some people might not have enjoyed the song, many are “obsessed.”
“Unpopular opinion but i think Peechay Hutt isn’t as bad as twitter is making it to be,” said Twitter user Nosheen.
One person called it “song of the year.”
“Hasan Raheem is a superstar,” said a user.
