Tuba Anwar confirms divorce with PTI's Aamir Liaquat
’Syed Tuba Anwar took to social media on Wednesday to announce her divorce from famous TV personality and PTI leader Aamir Liaquat Hussain.
“After a separation of 14 months, it was evident that there was no hope for reconciliation in sight and I had to opt to take Khulla from Court,” said Anwar.
In the post, she said she wanted to make people aware of a development in her life. “I cannot express how difficult it has been but I trust Allah and His plans. I would appeal to everyone that my decision is respected during these testing times,” she added.
Earlier rumours of the couple’s divorce that circulated on social media when Anwar had changed her name on her profiles back to her maiden name.
Last month, the PTI leader had shared his unsolicited “insight” into why he thought divorce cases are increasing in Pakistan, and he had blamed “independent,” “disobedient,” and “ungrateful” women for the rise.
Following the announcement, social media users flocked to the post to express their two cents on the matter.
Some people congratulated Anwar for doing right by herself.
But many told her that it was “karma” that got to her. “What goes around, comes around,” said one user on Twitter.
One person accused Anwar of using Liaquat for fame.

The couple had been surrounded in controversy since they announced their marriage in 2018 and Liaquat left his wife to marry Anwar.
Last year in April, Liaquat that made the headlines when news of his third marriage had broken on the internet, to a woman named Haniya Khan. Khan, who was a model had revealed that she got married to the TV personality in a ceremony. Liaquat denied the allegations.
