Woman retracts 'rape' allegations against cricketer Yasir Shah
A woman who accused cricketer Yasir Shah of being involved in her rape on Wednesday retracted her claims after which the police declared him “innocent” in the case according to Aaj News.
Earlier, Yasir was accused of involvement in the rape of a 14-year-old in the federal capital. According to the first information report, registered at the behest of a woman who filed the complaint at Islamabad’s Shalimar police station on December 19, Shah’s friend Farhan is accused of raping a 14-year-old at gunpoint, filmed the act and was blackmailing her.
The case was registered against Yasir and, according to the complainant, the cricketer’s friend, Farhan, under sections 292-B and 292-C (child pornography) as well as 376 (punishment for rape) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
On Wednesday, the Islamabad police removed Yasir’s name from the FIR at the request of the complainant.
According to the supplementary report, available with Aaj News, the woman alleges that when she spoke to Yasir he was out of the country. “While talking, Yasir was much tense and after an argument, he said that neither he owns that flat nor he is in Pakistan. Moreover, he has no relation with the contended place,” it read, “It was found that the flat was not in the name of Yasir and Farhan just wrongly used Yasir’s name.”
It added: “Just because I am a woman so I got panicked and I named Yasir and Farhan in the FIR and I made wrong accusations against Yasir like ‘I will let her get married with Farhan’.”
The report read: “Reality is that Yasir Shah didn’t say any such thing. Of my own will, I am requesting to remove Yasir Shah’s name from the FIR. Our prime accused person is Farhan, so I demand of the government institutions to give strict legal punishment to Farhan.”
In the report, the survivor called for protection for girls against oppressors like “Farhan” so that no one ever tries to harm girls. It added that the girl cited the statement “as per facts” and “knowledge”. Further, it read that she had no reservations over Yasir’s removal from the FIR or his release after a police inquiry into the case.
