Twitter goes to town after Maryam Nawaz's "I'm the coach" tweet
Twitter users have all kinds of creative responses for Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz vice president Maryam Nawaz’s latest tweet.
Posting a picture of her father, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif on Thursday, Maryam wrote, “I heard you’re a player. Nice to meet you, I’m the coach….”
Twitter users had a field day thanks to the cryptic tweet.
People called for Maryam to “fire her social media team.”
“Ew who’s writing her posts now? Mahobilli?” asked Twitter user Nadia.
Many users on Twitter took on the task of making their own versions of the quote.
“I heard you’re an absconder. Nice to meet you, I’m a lawyer,” wrote Jam Zuhaib Ahmed.
One user presented a short but accurate picture of Pakistani political Twitter.
“Pakistani political twitter is wild. there's a bitter aunty who's still subtweeting her ex-husband. a know-it-all uncle who constantly tweets about knowing west. and another aunty who's casually sharing her father's photo with THIS caption.”
Maryam's caption reminded many of simpler times, like when social media first came about.
"Teenagers used to caption this with their dps few years back," said a user.
While many laughed out loud, others didn't find the tweet funny at all.
"Coach of money laundering, looting taxpayers money & buying offshore properties. Expert in running from jail after conviction. Won the title of Sicilian mafia from supreme court," wrote user Zohaib Khattak.
"Nawaz Sharif is a coach who has trained his entire family on how to rob the country with both hands," said Fouzia Hameed Shah.
