Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) vice president Maryam Nawaz on Tuesday said that Imran Khan's time has come to an end. He is stuck under the burden of his own performance and can't stay in power for long she said.

Maryam Nawaz was speaking to the reporters out side Islamabad High Court (IHC) after appearing before the court in the Avenfield reference hearing.

Maryam congratulated Maulana Fazlur Rehman and his party for their performance. "JUI-F's win is PML-N's win," she said, promising development for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the upcoming years.

"This is the first time I have seen a government lose one local body election after the other," Maryam said adding that the prime minister still had time to leave now.

She said that a respectable person would have said goodbye and left office. PTI would come to be seen as a symbol of "disgrace", she added.

She warned that no politician would want to contest elections on PTI's ticket in the future after this 'embarrassing defeat'.

Maryam recalled the Khanewal by-poll in which the PML-N candidate defeated PTI's candidate by more than 10,000 votes.

Maryam said people were angry at the ruling party's performance as they were crushed by inflation.

Regarding reports that PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif would be declared the PML-N's prime ministerial candidate in the 2023 general elections, Maryam said the decision would be taken by the party when the time arrived.

"Shehbaz Sharif's relationship with me is one of father and daughter. But he is also the party president, I believe the party will take the decision when the time arrives," she said.

Earlier in the day the IHC adjourned the hearing of Maryam and her husband, Captain (retd) Muhammad Safdar's case in the Avenfield Apartments reference till January 18.

Speaking about the court hearing Maryam claimed that the National Accountability Bureau is just delaying the case as it has nothing to prove against her.

“The NAB which was earlier seeking day-to-day hearings of the case is now seeking adjournments,” she said.
