A video of children of a Baloch missing person appealing the safe return of their father surfaced on Twitter on Monday. Abdul Hameed Zehri went missing from Karachi in April and users were using the opportunity to raise awareness of his case.

The video, which features his youngest daughter asking, “where is my father?,” went viral on social media and users are urging authorities to take immediate action and find Zehri.

Spokesperson of the Baloch Republican Party, Sher Mohammad Bugti took to Twitter and asked human rights organisations to answer the pleas of the “innocent little child.”

“He was abducted from Karachi on 10 April 2021, and his whereabouts are still unknown,” said his elder daughter in another video. She also requested people to participate in the online campaign to help find her missing father.

“Help the children find their dad,” said a Twitter user posting a picture of the family at the Karachi Press Club asking for justice.

“There’s a lot of things that need to change in Pakistan. One specifically? Illegal abductions.” Said user Merak Khan Zehri.

“Stop brutalizing Balochistan. Stop it,” urged user Khan Zaman Kakar.

According to the Guardian, “disappearing” is a standard practice of Pakistan’s security agencies, which began in 1970s to curb terrorism in the country.

Voice of Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP), a human rights organisation reported that more than 6,000 people are missing from Balochistan and 1,400 who were abducted since 2009 have been found riddled with bullets and signs of torture.
