Two killed, four injured in Bajaur blast
Two people died and four were injured on Sunday in a blast on the Awami National Party leader's vehicle in the Mamund district of Bajaur during the Local Government elections in the tribal district, Aaj News reported.
According to the police sources, an ANP leader's vehicle was targeted in the Kamarsar area of the Mamund district. Police and rescue officials have reached the site and shifted the wounded persons to the hospital.
This is apparently the second targetted attack on ANP as ANP’s local leader Umer Khattab Sherani was killed late Friday when unidentified men opened fire at him outside his house in Dera Ismail Khan. Protests had erupted following news of his murder promoting the district administration to postpone the poll.
Sherani was the ANP’s candidate for the city mayor seat in the Local Government Elections.
The country’s top electoral body -- ECP -- on Wednesday declared that 2,507 polling stations – out of the 9,202 – were the most sensitive, Dawn.com reported. It added that 4,168 are said to be sensitive.
