Rape case: Senior civil judge Jamshed Kundi sent to jail
A judicial magistrate on Monday ordered to transfer Lower Dir's senior civil judge Jamshed Kundi to prison on charges of raping a woman and blackmailing her.
Lower Dir District Police Officer (DPO) Irfanullah Khan had earlier confirmed Kundi's arrest and said the victim was recovered from the judge’s official residence.
The Peshawar High Court had suspended the senior civil judge and sent him on a one-day physical remand on Friday.
According to the First Information Report (FIR) registered at the Balamat police station, the judge demanded Rs1.5million from the woman three months ago in return for getting her sister a job. The woman didn’t have the amount, so she gave the judge her jewellery worth Rs1.5 million.
The FIR stated that Kundi called the woman on November 25 and told her that he couldn’t get a job for her sister. He asked her to come to his house in the Balamat area so he could return her the money.
However, when she arrived at his residence, Kundi demanded sexual favours in return for the money back.
Upon her refusal, the senior judge allegedly raped the woman.
An official deployed at the Balambat police station had later said that the medical reports confirmed the complainant had been raped and further investigation into the case was under way.
