Tehreek-e-Labaik Pakistab (TLP) chief Saad Rizvi announced on Friday that his party is all geared up to participate in the next elections.

“The rulers have ruined the country,” he said in a statement. “People who said they would not take loans and bring back the country’s looted money are begging the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for a grant.”

The party leader promised to live up to the nation’s expectation should he be elected in the next elections. “The government and the opposition are busy with their own objectives. Personal enmity has not allowed the country to move forward,” he said.

TLP is preparing for the 2023 election. “We are ready even if the elections are conducted earlier,” said Rizvi.

His announcement has the Pakistani Twitterati speculating what the upcoming elections would look like.

Many believe that TLP is going to be a strong player in the next elections.

“TLP is going to be a major political plater (parliamentary politics) in Punjab,” said Twitter user Umar Bahadur. He wishes that it doesn’t happen.

One user said that PTI and TLP are going to fight the elections together. “That was always the plan,” he said.

One user however, isn’t convinced that TLP would be able to make any major headway.

While the TLP couldn't winy any seats in the 2018 general elections, it garnered over 2.1 million votes establishing itself as the fifth largest party in the elections.

The TLP leader was released from jail last week on Thursday, after a reference filed in the Supreme Court’s federal review board of his detention was withdrawn. He was taken into custody after his party had announced countrywide protests.
