Govt pressuring parties to attend joint session of the Parliament: Fazl
QUETTA: Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) and JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that government is pressuring parties to attend the joint session of the Parliament on Wednesday.
Speaking to the journalists in Quetta, the Fazl said that the government does not have a majority and the coalition is not ready to support the current government, adding that incompetent rulers are using illegal tactics to prolong power.
"The incompetent rulers are gearing up to extend their reign [by getting the bills passed in the Parliament]. The incumbent government is ruling on a 'fake' majority."
“The joint session of the Parliament was adjourned because government was afraid of defeat. We have received reports that the government has a forced majority,” he maintained.
He added that some institutions were also interfering in politics. "We are getting reports that the government's allies are being forced to support the PTI in the parliament," he said.
Fazlur said that if there would be illegal interference in the politics. "It is our right to fight against it. We will still take the constitutional and legal path as usual, PDM will go to court after reviewing these laws," he added.
He claimed that someone else was "pulling the strings of the government", as it could not function on its own.
"Struggling against such elements is 'jihad," adding that people were committing suicide due to hunger and were selling their children because of inflation.
Referring to former Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) chief justice Rana Shamim, the PDM head maintained that there should be a judicial inquiry into the affidavit, saying that former premier Nawaz Sharif will himself decide to return Pakistan.
