A Lahore session and judge court granted bail to a suspect in Minar-e-Pakistan harassment case after the complainant recorded a fresh statement in court on Friday, reported Aaj News.

In her statement, TikToker Ayesha Akram said she had lodged a complaint against Iftikhar Ahmed on the basis of suspicion and misunderstanding, reported Samaa. “Now I am satisfied at his innocence through respectables from the locality and have no objection if Iftikhar is admitted to post-arrest bail,” she told the court.

According to the report, the Lari Adda police station had lodged an FIR against Ahmed on the complaint of Akram on August 17. In the FIR, the police included Section 147 (punishment for rioting), Section 149 ( every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object), Section 342 ( punishment for wrongful confinement), Section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), Section 395 (punishment for dacoity) and Section 509 (insulting modesty or causing sexual harrassment) of the Pakistan Penal Code.

On Friday's hearing, the court granted bail to the accused Ahmed and ordered him to submit surety bond of Rs0.1 million.

Quoting the session court judge, the report stated: “Investigation of this case is complete and no useful purpose will be served by keeping the accused behind bars.”

On August 14, Akram was sexually harassed, groped and assaulted by at least 400 men at the greater Iqbal Park in Lahore while she was recording videos for TikTok with her team on Independence day.

The police lodged the FIR against hundreds of unknown people for assaulting the woman as well as her companions and arrested 104 suspects.

Akram identified six suspects after an identification parade of the suspects on the court orders. The session court then extended remand of the suspects identified by the victim.

Later, Akram's friend Rambo and seven other men were detained by the police after Akram issued a statement blaming her friend in the harassment incident. Soon audio recordings between Akram and Rambo surfaced wherein the two were discussing the bribe amount which could be collected from the imprisoned suspects.

Last month, the Tiktoker complained of death threats.
