Darren McGrady, Princess Diana’s former chef said in a YouTube video review of the film ‘Spencer,’ that she was too scared to ask for seconds when dining with Queen Elizabeth.

After working for the Queen for 11 years at the Buckingham Place, McGrady went to work for Diana at her Kensington Palace home in 1993. He served her there for 4 years.

Discussing the Princess of Wales’ dining habits in the 15-minute long video, the royal chef revealed that Diana’s favorite dessert was crepe soufflé which she came down to the kitchen to eat. “I knew the princess would come down to the kitchen for seconds. She was too scared to ask for seconds in front of the Queen,” he said.

McGrady also said that he would stop all the other chefs from eating the leftover dessert because he knew Princess Diana would want to have it later.

In charge of the lunch menu, the royal chef made sure Diana would get her favorite dessert. He would present the Queen with two options, one of them being crepe soufflé and another one he knew the Queen wouldn’t like as much. “It worked every time,” said McGrady, gleamingly in the video.

McGrady is played by Sean Harris in the film ‘Spencer,’ which is a 2021 biopic starring actress Kristen Stewart as Diana. The movie takes place over three days at Christmas in 1991.

Stewart has received rave reviews for her performance in the film.

Princess Diana’s bodyguard Ken Wharfe told ‘People,’ “Out of all the people who have played Diana over the past 10 years, she's the closest to her," he said. "She managed to perfect her mannerisms."
