KARACHI: Former Ruet-i-Hilal Committee Chairman Mufti Muneebur Rehman on Monday said that the banned Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) did not demand the expulsion of the French ambassador and the closure of its embassy in Pakistan.

“Any such demand was never made during the talks, and some of the government ministers lied about it,” Muneeb told reporters in Karachi.

"So how can trust be established when government officials speak lies publicly?" he questioned

Those who participated in the negotiations did not have personal agendas and were patriots, Muneeb said.

Mufti Muneeb said that people would soon see the proscribed group re-emerge as "a lawful political force".

Mufti Muneeb was among the clerics who facilitated talks between the government and the proscribed group.

Muneeb further said that "some liberals" had asked where was the writ of the state during the protests.

"If the country's liberals sound worried, then we can assume that someone is doing the right thing," he said.

He said that the "liberals" who were provoking the government in the government's hard times, would be the first ones to flee.

Mufti Muneeb said the signs so far are showing that both sides are abiding by their agreement, as the roads reopen for traffic and protesters move to a park in Wazirabad.

"Soon you will hear the news that the protesters have dispersed from the park and ended their protest," Muneeb said.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Imran Khan said that he did not want any kind of destruction in the country.

He was talking to the PTI core committee meeting held in Islamabad.

Taking the committee into confidence, the Prime Minister said that he did not want bloodshed in the country, he tried to resolve the issues amicably with the banned organization.

The meeting discussed the protest of the banned TLP.

The Prime Minister said that no one would benefit from the instability.

The premier further said that dialogue was the only way to resolve the problems, adding that he had never been in favor of the use of force.
