Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) leader Abdul Quddus Bizenjo has been elected unopposed new leader of the House in a session of provincial assembly on Friday, reported Aaj News.

Governor Zahoor Agha will administer oath from Balochistan's new chief minister at 4 pm at the Governor House. The oath ceremony will be attended by provincial lawmakers, leaders of political parties and civil and military officials.

During the assembly session held under chairmanship of Deputy Speaker Babar Mosa, Bizenjo secured 39 votes out of the total strength of 65 lawmakers of the House.

Bizenjo, the 17th chief minister of the province, had been elected on the position earlier in January 2018 after the then ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government in Balochistan was toppled shortly before the Senate elections.

Later, the PML-N dissidents and independant candidates formed the BAP and elected Jam Kamal as president of the newly formed party. Kamal had served as minister of state for petroleum and natural resources under the PML-N government for four and a half years.

Bizenjo replaced the then chief minister of the PML-N, Sanaullah Zehri.

It is pertinent to mention that after the resignation of Kamal in the last week no lawmaker submitted nomination papers for the chief minister's post except Bizenjo. Meanwhile, Kamal was elected leader of the house after 2018 polls.
