The opposition parties PDM and PPP organized protests in various cities across Pakistan on Friday to slam the government for its inability to control the surging inflation.

Protests took place in Karachi, Larkana, Lahore, Sukkur, Mardan, Jacobabad, Mohmand, Ziarat, Mingora and other cities reported Aaj TV.

Demonstrators shouted slogans against the government and rising inflation.

The demonstration in Karachi took place in Saddar and police sealed several roads because of it.

Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) general secretary Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri told supporters in Karachi that the protests were a public referendum against the PTI.

PML-N staged a protest against inflation at the Jain Mandir Chowk in Lahore.

PML-N's Saad Rafique was quoted in Dawn as addressing the protest about the "back-breaking" inflation, unemployment, and lawlessness while also witnessing the degradation of state institutions," in Pakistan.

"Why are people dying of hunger? Why are they committing suicide? Why are they cursing the government? This did not happen overnight," he said, adding that this was the result of targeting "elected representatives" he said.

PML-N supporters and Jamaat i Islami supporters also staged a protest in different parts of Muzaffargarh, all shouting slogans agains the inflation crisis.

The PML-N posted several images of the protests across the country.

The Pakistan Democratic Front alliance of opposition parties announced on Wednesday a 15-day protest plan, which kicked off Friday.

Meanwhile, the Peoples Party also held a protest in Karachi 's Malir district against inflation which was led by Sindh's Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah.
