Social media was flooded with pictures and videos of traffic jams in Rawalpindi and Islamabad caused ostensibly by the government placing barricades after the Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan announced holding a long march to the capital after Jumma prayers.

Quoting the TLP statement, a Dawn report stated, "The peaceful Namoos-i-Risalat march of the TLP towards Islamabad will start after Friday prayers" from the TLP's markaz (headquarters). It added the group also had a "plan B" in case its members were stopped from marching on the capital.

Below are some of the images circulating on Twitter regarding this march:

The party's supporters and followers have been holding a sit-in in Lahore against detention of the TLP chief and son of late Khadim Hussain Rizvi, Saad Rizvi.

The Interior Ministry on Thursday issued orders to block internet services in multiple areas of Lahore to maintain "law and order situation" in the province.

It is pertinent to mention that Rizvi has been detained by the Punjab government since April 12 for maintenance of public order. Initially the TLP chief was detained for three months but later the detention extended under the Anti-Terrorist Act on July 10.

A federal review board is scheduled to take up the government’s reference against Saad on Oct 23, according to a Dawn report.
