PPP will form next govt says Zardari
PPP co-chairperson and former Pakistan president Asif Ali Zardari said on Thursday that his party will form the next government in the country.
Zardari was attending hearing at an accountability court in Islamabad where his lawyer Farooq Naek filed an acquittal plea in a suspicious transactions case.
Naek said in the hearing that Zardari could not be indicted in the case after the new NAB ordinance.
“No allegation about harming the national exchequer has been leveled against my client in the case,” Naek was quoted in Geo as saying.
Since the case did not come under corruption it could not be heard in the accountability course, Naek said.
The judge said he will reserve his verdict over the admissibility of the petition and respond soon.
Zardari was speaking to journalists after the hearing when he said it was his party's turn to form the next government.
A social media user on Twitter posted a short video of someone asking Zardari about the current impasse between the civil and military administrations and who did he think would become the new DG ISI. Zardari's reply was his trademark laughter.
