Cabinet approves appointments of new Punjab IG, chief secretary

The federal cabinet approved the appointment of Rao Sardar as new Punjab inspector general on Tuesday, while Kamran Ali Afzal was appointed as Punjab chief secretary, reported Aaj News.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-led government in the province has replaced six IGs in its three-year rule as it appointed Sardar on the post as the seventh one. Sardar was serving as Punjab Safe Cities Authority director general.

Afzal replaced Jawad Rafique Malik as the chief secretary of the province.

Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar had forwarded a summary to the federal cabinet for the appointments on the two major positions of the bureaucracy, reported Geo.

According to the report, Buzdar and Prime Minister Imran Khan in a meeting had decided to make the important changes in the provincial government.
