Police arrest man who filmed Lahore rickshaw harassment video
The Punjab police arrested on Sunday the man who filmed a video of a group of women being harassed in a rickshaw in Lahore on August 14.
In the video, a man jumps onto the rickshaw and kisses the woman who seems shocked. Both women scream but no one comes forward.
Police have arrested two men and are trying to convince the woman to come forward to identify the suspects, according to a story in Geo.
The video went viral and caused outrage especially as it followed news of the sexual assault of a woman Tik Toker who was attacked by a group of 400 men on August 14 at Minar-e-Pakistan.
The spike in sexual crimes against women has exposed deep divisions with society with women claiming they feel unsafe and others blaming the rise on a refusal to adhere to Islamic values.
Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Political Communication, Dr Shahbaz Gill, tweeted early Monday morning that police will soon arrest the man who harassed the woman.
He also updated followers on the Minar-e-Pakistan case saying the administration had arrested 126 people so far.
