Human rights minister on Wednesday condemned the 14th August attack on a woman and her companions outside Minar-e-Pakistan in which a massive crowd of 400 men assaulted her while she was filming a video.

While tweeting about the action that police had taken, she said something needed to be done to change violent behavior in "our people". She said mindsets had to change.

The incident has caused shockwaves as many people saw the video of the woman being assaulted by men. While it was condemned, there were also tweets saying that the behavior was not representative of all men.

Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto issued a strong condemnation of the incident:

Lawyer and human rights activist Jibran Nasir, who contested the last two elections as an independent, also condemned the incident on Tuesday night.

While the outrage was visible, digital rights advocate and lawyer Nighat Dad urged people to stop sharing the video of the incident.

Women especially took to Twitter to share how unsafe they felt in Pakistan.

Some used the opportunity to say this incident was the result of women not wearing the hijab. Because a lot of those tweets used images of the incident, Aaj has chosen not to run them.
