Pillion riding banned in Karachi
KARACHI: Sindh government banned pillion riding in Karachi due to security concerns during Muharram.
According to the Sindh Home Department, the ban has been imposed from 8 to 10 Muharram, while police and law enforcement agencies were directed to take action against violation.
A police security plan has also been issued for Muharram 8 in Karachi. A total of 2,968 police personnel have been deployed for the security of the procession in the metropolis.
According to the details female police personnel will also be present in the procession while SSU and Rangers personnel have been deployed to assist the police.
The main procession of Muharram 8 will leave Nishtar Park at half 1:30p.m. The streets have been sealed by placing containers along MA Jinnah Road.
Snipers have been deployed on 124 buildings along the procession route while mobile phone service were partially suspended along the procession route.
