Pakistani Lawmakers on Friday strongly denounced the attack on a Hindu temple by a mob in Bhong area of Rahim Yar Khan, calling on authorities to award exemplary punishment to all culprits involved in the incident.

The National Assembly has unanimously passed a resolution, moved by Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan, condemning the attack on Hindu temple.

Condemning the incident the minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said Pakistan's future is of a progressive country where minorities are fully secure.

In his video message about mob attack on Ganesh temple in Rahim Yar Khan (RYK), the minister said the people who hurt the Hindu community's religious sentiments should be given exemplary punishment.

He said the Prime Minister, the military leadership and the judiciary accept the constitution that guarantees minorities' rights for a progressive Pakistan.

The Minister said the sanctity of both the colours in our national flag is equally important for us.

Other Pakistani lawmakers also denounced the attack during a session of the National Assembly.

"No arrests have been made yet neither did any government officials arrive at the place," GeoNews quoted PML-N MNA Khael Das Kohistani as saying.

PTI's Jai Prakash said the temple was desecrated due to the police's negligence, adding that the incident had taken place three days ago and notice had been taken against it immediately.

"Prime Minister Imran Khan took immediate notice of the incident," he added.

PPP MNA Mahesh Kumar Malani urged ministers of other political parties to speak on the issue as well.

Minister for Human Rights Shireen Mazari pointed out that Prime Minister Imran Khan took notice of the attack on the Temple and directed the Inspector General Police of Punjab to not only arrest the culprits but also look into the police negligence in this matter.
