Aun Chaudhary, special advisor to chief minister Usman Buzdar, has resigned his position according to a report on Aaj TV on Friday.

He tendered his resignation during his meeting with Buzdar. He claims he was asked to leave the Jehangir Tareen group within the PTI and he refused to do so to which the chief minister asked him to resign.

Chaudhary said everyone knows the work Jahangir Tareen did for the party especially during the 2018 elections and he regretted the manner in which Tareen was treated.

Tensions between PTI stalwarts and Tareen became tense when the latter announced he had the support of 34 PTI members in his own group. Aun Chaudhry was one of them and defended his decision. He claimed in the media that it wasn't just due to politics but also a family association that he supported Tareen.

He praised Tareen's management skills but also said he was loyal to Imran Khan. In a story in the Daily Times in May this year, Chaudhry is quoted as saying, the prime minister "must identify his old and loyal friends, and warned those who are engaged in flattery, will leave him in testing times."

Just a day earlier, PTI MNA Nazir Chohan gave a press conference wherein he disassociated himself from the Tareen group, saying he regrets being "used by Tareen for his own corrupt case and then threw me away."

He professed his loyalty to Imran Khan.
