A judge on Wednesday reserved judgment on the bail applications of Zakir and Asmat Jaffer, the parents of Zakir, the man accused of murdering Noor Mukaddam on July 20 in Islamabad.

The parents have each retained their own lawyer who argued in front of the court that their clients had nothing to do with their son's actions and denied tampering with evidence as they were in Karachi.

They were asking for bail for which today's hearing took place. The judge has said he will make his decision tomorrow.

The prosecution argued that the parents had a connection with the murder, saying Zahir was in touch with the parents on the night of the murder. Further, he told the police that his father said he would help Zahir get rid of Noor's body.

Zakir Jaffer's lawyer denied the claim and said his client has always maintained he stands with the victim and her family and will not stand by his son. He said there was no evidence to support the claims that the parents knew a crime was being committed in their Islamabad home.

The judge will make his decision on Thursday.

On Monday Zahir Jaffer was remanded to judicial custody for 14 days. He has been shifted to Adiala Jail.
