A team has found the bodies of Pakistani mountaineer Ali Sadpara, Iceland’s John Snorri and Chile’s Juan Pablo Mohr said Gilgit Baltistan Information Minister Fateh Ullah Khan on Monday.

Khan was speaking to Geo News.

The expedition team searching for the bodies which went missing five months ago was led by Sajid Sadpara, and included Canadian filmmaker Elia Saikaly and Pasang Kaji Sherpa.

The rescue mission was called off a few days after they went missing but Sadpara's son was committed to searching for his father's and the others' remains.

Geo reported that the team reached Camp 4 on Monday morning and used a drone to detect the bodies.

The discovery was also confirmed by Karrar Haideri who is secretary of the Alpine Club of Pakistan. He said the army was assisting the team in the recovery of the bodies as it was difficult for them to bring them down from such a high altitude.

He said the bodies would be returned to the families in their respective countries, ie Chile and Iceland.

Ali Sadpara is feted for being the only Pakistani mountaineer to have summited eight of the 14 highest peaks in the world.
