A meeting between former Pakistan prime minister Nawaz Sharif and Afghanistan's security adviser Dr Hamdullah Mohib in London on Friday has attracted much attention on social media.

According to a news report by ANI, Dr Mohib called on Sharif to discuss issues pertaining to regional security. Mohib showed support for a "democratic struggle in Pakistan" while Sharif said a stable Afghanistan was good for Pakistan and the region.

News of the meeting sparked much speculation on social media, especially in light of Mohib's critical comments on Pakistan and its role in reference to the situation in Afghanistan.

In May, Mohib had referred to Pakistan as a "brothel house for supporting terrorism in Afghanistan." Following that comment, Pakistan had boycotted Mohib.

A slew of PTI leaders took to Twitter to slam the meeting.

However, PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz shot back with an image showing a picture of her father's meeting with Mohib juxtaposed with a 2019 meeting between Mohib and COAS General Bajwa. She posted the image with the words "Both pics nice, no?"

She then tweeted the following, saying diplomacy meant being able to engage with all stakeholders.
