Pakistan's Foreign Office on Monday slammed Indian Minister's statement saying Modi government ensured Pakistan stayed on the FATF grey list.

“Indian statement not only exposes its true colors but also vindicates Pakistan’s longstanding stance on India’s negative role in FATF,” the press release issued on Monday said.

Pakistan was responding to statement made on Sunday by Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar wherein he said the "efforts of Narendra Modi's government" kept Pakistan on the FATF grey list.

Jaishankar was addressing a virtual training program on the foreign policy for Bharatiya Janata Party leaders.

“Due to us, Pakistan is under the lens of FATF and it was kept in the grey list. We have been successful in pressurizing Pakistan and the fact that Pakistan's behaviour has changed is because of pressure put by India by various measures,” ANI quoted India's foreign minister as saying.

According to a report in Hindustan Times, the session was reportedly aimed at informing BJP’s members of Parliament about foreign policy initiatives taken by the Union government so that they can counter opposition charges during the Monsoon session.

He also credited his government for UN sanctions on Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed.

Pakistan's Foreign Office was highly critical of Jaishankar's stance.

"Pakistan has always been highlighting to the international community the politicization of FATF and undermining of its processes by India. The recent Indian statement is just further corroboration of its continued efforts to use an important technical forum for its narrow political designs against Pakistan," it wrote in its release.

It also said it was considering approaching FATF President for "an appropriate action in this matter."

"India’s credentials for assessing Pakistan in FATF as co-chair of the Joint Group or for that matter any other country are subject to questions, which we urge FATF to look into," it said.
