Exam paper leaks on social media, again
The 9th class Mathematics paper leaked on social media half an hour before the exam started on Thursday in Karachi.
Thursday’s leak broke the record of the Matric Physics paper leak on Monday, which was available on social media a few minutes after the paper commenced.
The authorities failed to prevent the paper leak yet again, as the question paper as well its solved counterpart, were available on WhatsApp even before the paper started.
The BSEK had announced an investigation and strict actions against those involved in Monday’s leak. They chose also to delay the delivery of question papers to some centres, yet the situation was found to be worse in today’s exam.
The BSEK chairperson on Wednesday requested the imposition of section 144 outside exam centres to control the paper leaks, giving authority to SHOs to take action against anyone who broke laws.
In a notification, Additional Chief Secretary Qazi Shahid Pervez acknowledged the request. “In exercise of the powers conferred under Section 144(6) of the CrPC, [the government of Sindh] hereby declares all the premises of examination centres for the above-mentioned examinations under their respective educational boards, restricted areas for the general public,” stated the notification.
Strict measures including the entry of only those candidates with valid admit cards and on-duty staff were to be taken. The measures did not seem to stop the exams from leaking again, as after the Matric Physics exam leaked on Monday, the 9thclass Chemistry paper and Matric Mathematics paper leaked on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively.
