QUETTA: Chaotic scenes erupted outside the Balochistan Assembly on Friday as scores of protestors and Opposition lawmakers holding a protest outside the assembly were baton charged by the police.

The police used armoured vehicles to broke into the Balochistan assembly building after the assembly building in Quetta came under opposition parties siege as they surrounded the provincial assembly building and locked all the doors.

Police said Opposition lawmakers had locked all four doors of the Balochistan Assembly to prevent the budget session from taking place today.

The opposition has stationed its members on all the corridors leading to the Balochistan assembly and said that they would not let the government present what they termed a people-enemy budget.

The main leadership of the opposition was staging a sit-in in front of the main door of the assembly building when the police operation starts.

Clashes broke out as police attempted to open the locked gates and Opposition supporters surrounded the assembly.

The sit-in has been staged against the “disregard for opposition constituencies and release of funds to unelected persons”.

Following the administration's failure to open the assembly building, negotiations were underway between Quetta Deputy Commissioner Aurangzeb Badini and opposition leader Advocate Malik Sikandar Khan.

The budget session commenced under the chair of Speaker Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo. Opposition MPA Nasrullah Zehray accused the police of using violent methods to disperse the "peaceful protest" outside the assembly.
