PTI's Tareen group to support govt during budget session, says Sheikh Rasheed
The Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed on Wednesday said the newly formed Tareen group within PTI will support the PTI-led government in the upcoming budget session.
The federal minister said that Jahangir Khan Tareen's supporters would vote for the government during the budget sessions of the National Assembly and Punjab Assembly.
“Tareen will support Prime Minister Imran Khan in the upcoming budget session. PTI is a big political party and such groupings in any party are a routine matter,” the minister said while speaking to the media during his visit to an under-construction hospital in Rawalpindi.
Sheikh Rasheed's comments came after estranged PTI leader Jahangir Tareen on Wednesday announced to form a separate group in the Punjab assembly. 'The need for a separate group was felt after the Punjab government initiated "revenge actions" against my supporters, he said.
While responding to the speculations of a forward bloc within PTI, Tareen quickly dismissed the reports.
"We were part of the PTI, we are part of the PTI and we will continue to remain part of the PTI," he declared outside the banking court where he had appeared for a hearing.
During his appearance at court, Tareen was accompanied by his supporters including Punjab government ministers and other lawmakers.
"There is no investigation against me going on relating to the sugar scandal," he said and added, "the three FIRs registered against him were not filed in any sugar inquiry."
The PTI leader said he completely trusts Prime Minister Imran Khan, however, the Punjab government is seeking revenge from his supporters.
He also added that there was "another issue" that needed to be addressed.
