Finance Minister Shaukat Tareen hints at revising IMF agreement
Finance Minister Shaukat Tareen has hinted at revising the IMF agreement and said that the IMF has committed atrocities against us for which we have to stand and should see what relief can be obtained from the IMF.
Finance Minister Shaukat Tareen attended the meeting of the Standing Committee on Finance of the National Assembly. Giving a briefing on the budget strategy paper, the Finance Minister said that even 4 to 5 percent growth in the coming years would be insufficient.
He said that Pakistan has made very strict agreements with the IMF and is in talks with the IMF to see what relief can be obtained from the IMF.
The Finance Minister said that in the last 10 years, the FBR has been harassing the Finance Minister, what would have happened to the common man, the harassment will stop if the tax net is increased.
He said that there was no stability in the economy, balance of prices and attention would have to be paid to agriculture, adding that focus on housing sector would also be of great benefit.
He said that the penetration of banking sector in Pakistan is only 33% and it is necessary to manage the loans and give money to the backward areas.
