In fight against Covid, next few weeks 'critical' : Asad Umar
Today, the federal minister for planning Asad Umar warned the public once again that the coronavirus was spreading at an alarming rate across the world and Pakistan remained no exception deeming the next few weeks as 'critical'.
- To date, 833k Pakistanis have been reported to contract the flu virus while over 18k Covid-related deaths have been confirmed.
The PTI lawmaker who also heads the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) took to Twitter warning the public regarding the surge in daily cases during the ongoing third wave in the country. He wrote:
More than a year after starting covid 19 continues to devastate globally. Daily cases now exceed 9 lakhs, more than ever before. Daily deaths exceeding 15 thousand near the peak of Jan 2021.
Urging the nation to strictly follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to flatten the Covid curve of the country, he tweeted:
The need for caution remains high. For Pakistan the next few weeks are critical.
