Polling in NA-249 by-election has come to an end and unofficial results have now started coming out.

In the election arena, 30 candidates are contesting, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, PML-N, PPP, MQM and Tehreek-e-Libek are facing each other while other candidates are independent.

Voting for by-election in NA-249, Karachi West II has started at 8:00 am and continued till 5:00 pm without any break.

So far, unconfirmed and unofficial results of 35 polling stations have come out. Muftah Ismail of PML-N is leading with 2,355 votes while Qadir Mandokhel of PPP is second with 1,274 votes, Mustafa Kamal of PSP is third with 898 votes and Hafiz Mursalin of MQM is 432. Amjad Afridi of PTI got 317 votes

According to the unofficial results of NA-249 polling station No. 215, Muftah Ismail of PML-N is leading with 68 votes while the candidate of banned TLP is at the second position with 39 votes.

According to unconfirmed and unofficial results of polling station No. 205, Muftah Ismail of PML-N is leading with 91 votes while the candidate of banned TLP is at the second position with 37 votes.

According to unconfirmed and unofficial results of polling station No. 90, PTI candidate Majid Afridi is leading with 73 votes and PML-N's Muftah Ismail is second with 29 votes. Similarly, unconfirmed results from various polling stations continue to emerge.

According to Radio Pakistan, 276 polling stations comprising 796 polling booths have been established in the constituency. The Sindh government has also announced a public holiday to facilitate the voters.

According to the ECP, 30 candidates are competing for the seat including PML-N’s Miftah Ismail, Pak Sarzameen Party chairman Syed Mustafa Kamal, PTI’s Amjad Afridi, PPP’s Qadir Khan Mandokhail, MQM-P’s Mohammad Mursaleen, and TLP’s Mufti Nazeer Ahmed Kamalvi.

NA-249 was created in 2018 by combining NA-239 and NA-240 and has a population of 782,776, of which only 339,591 or 43 percent are registered to vote. There are 216,056 male voters in the area while the number of female voters is 137,935.

ECP had announced to conduct by-polls in the constituency after PTI's Faisal Vawda had resigned from the National Assembly over dual nationality controversy.
