Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari declared that his party’s lawmakers will not resign from the assemblies at any cost, local media reported on Tuesday.

These comments came after the former president Asif Ali Zardari held a long video call with Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz's (PML-N) supremo Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.

"Nawaz Sharif Sahab, if you are prepared to fight a war, you will have to return to your country," Zardari said and added, "If we all are out to fight, then we must all be prepared to go to jail. Everyone will have to face the hardships in this battle if we are in for a decisive battle for democracy," Geo News reported while quoting anonymous sources within PPP.

According to the details, Zardari also made it clear that PPP will not participate in en mass resignations from assemblies -- an option strongly supported by both PML-N and JUI-F.

The PPP co-chairman stated that the decision to submit mass resignations from assemblies will result in strengthening the establishment and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government.

The former president also criticized former finance minister Ishaq Dar for not taking part in Senate polls.

A meeting of the Pakistan Democratic Movement's (PDM) leadership is taking place in Islamabad to finalize their future strategy to oust the current government.
