'Neither accepted pressure in the past nor will come under any pressure'
ISLAMABAD: Lashing out at the opposition, Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday said that Pakistan Democratic Movement’s (PDM) long march was meant to get a national reconciliation ordinance (NRO).
PM Imran, while charring a meeting of PTI’s core committee, said that the PDM’s proposed long march has nothing to do with the problems of masses.
Terming the long march pressure tactics, the prime minister reiterated that he neither accepted pressure in the past nor will come under any pressure in the future.
PM Imran Khan, addressing participants of the meeting, stressed that the PTI had gotten elected to power to "change the system" hence he will never compromise with those who plundered the national wealth.
"We have to keep all options in mind, including the possibility of fresh elections," said the prime minister.
According to the sources the meeting discussed matters pertaining to elections for Senate’s chairman and deputy chairman, strategy to deal with the opposition’s long march, and other issues.
The strategy for the election of the Senate chairman was also reviewed in the meeting.
During the meeting, PM Imran Khan directed the government leaders to remain active in view of the current political situation in the country.
Performance of federal and provincial governments were also reviewed in the meeting, said sources.
