At least one passenger was killed and more than 25 others were injured when eleven coaches of Lahore-bound Karachi Express derailed near Rohri in Sunday’s wee hours.

According to rescue sources, the injured were shifted to Rohri by relief train. The accident took place between Rohri and Panu Aqil.

An operation is underway to clear the track. The up track has been completely closed due to overturning of bogies.

According to DCO Railway Kamran Lashari, 9 bogies of the train overturned and fell into the ditch, while 2 bogies overturned and fell on the track.

Kamran Lashari says the incident will be completely investigated.
