Opposition demands PM Imran's resignation after Gilani's Senate victory
ISLAMABAD: Opposition leaders have demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Imran Khan and to hold fresh elections.
Talking to media in Islamabad, PML-N leader and former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that the National Assembly session was abruptly adjourned, the deputy speaker adjourned the meeting and fled, the government is confused over the defeat in the Senate elections. They do not know the law or the constitution.
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi further said that the Prime Minister ran his own candidate's election campaign, PTI was defeated despite fraud and rigging, Imran Khan has lost the trust of the people, 17 members of the government voted in opposition, the only solution to the problems is new elections.
Pakistan People's Party (PPP) leader Raja Pervez Ashraf said that stories are being made to hide the defeat, the National Assembly distrusted Imran Khan.
He said that Imran Khan used to say that if 10 members will say Go Imran he will leave power, now 17 members voted against the government yesterday, he added.
Raja Pervez Ashraf further said that if you want to rule like lions then come to the people, the people do not need those who rule like rats.
The former prime minister said that flour, electricity and gas are beyond the purchasing power of the people, they have no choice but to step down, the present government has completely failed, the prime minister should resign and new elections should be held.
